“”What? Like it’s hard?” — Legally Blonde (2001)

This blog will be used as my journal. I will be documenting my wins and challenges as I chase my goal of:

As I write this I am 25. I’ve been learning Mandarin for the last two years; I’ve just started my journey learning French and Portuguese.

I’m not an expert at learning languages. I’m not fluent in any of the languages I am learning. But I’m all in. And if you’ve ever wanted to learn a language but found yourself too scared, lost, overwhelmed or just curious, I hope this space makes you feel a little more seen.

So join me on my blog for the next 5 years (?) and let’s see what happens.

I’m Abigail

Welcome to Say Huà (话), my online journal documenting my language learning journey as an adult learner.

Here, you’ll find honest commentary on the real challenges I face while studying Mandarin Chinese, French, and more, along with the small (and big) wins when everything finally clicks.

If you’re into language learning, or just curious about what it’s like to become a polyglot, you’re in the right place!

If you’re down, stick around.
